Boundary Boss / Base Feature in SolidWorks

This is a tool to create complex parts in SolidWorks. Adds materials between profiles in two directions to create a solid feature. In this tutorial we create two profiles in different planes and fill the material using Boundary Boss / Base tool.

Create a circle of 50 mm diameter and 50 mm below the origin.

Now extrude the profile to a depth of 50mm in the opposite direction as shown.

Now draw a circle of 25mm diameter on the top plane 50mm away from the origin as shown.

Now extrude this profile to a depth of 50 mm as shown in figure.

Click on the Boundary Boss / Base button in features pane

Now select the two faces of the extrude facing each other as shown in figure. Adjust the guide line as to two points to be in same plane.

Set the alignment of the feature as tangent at each face as shown

Click ok to see the find complex figure you have created using boundary boss / base tool. This is just one possibility of how to use this feature. As mentioned before this is a very advanced tool to create complex parts. It is especially useful to combine / join bodies in different planes.
